When I was really young, my parents started taking me on small trips to the beach and to nearby villages in Mexico, but my siblings and I had always had a very adventurous lifestyle so my dad decided to go on more trips, now outside Mexico.
My dad works almost every day and when he gets home he's usually tired and wants to nap, so when we go on vacation it's the time when my family is the most united and happy, so I started associating my happy family with traveling. The first big trip we did was to Europe when I was 12 years, it was on a cruise, and although I don't remember much of it I do remember how happy I was, the emotion and thrill of going on such a big boat and the amazing food and activities it had. Now I'm 20 years and each year we decide a new place to go.
But traveling isn't something that I associate only with family. When I was 16 I went to Toronto on an exchange program totally on my own, and I started finding my self there. So I decided that I wanted to know more places on my own because I think that the new places help me figure things out about me without having to think about my "everyday" life.
This summer I went to Malaga with my family but I took my rollerskates with me and I went every day to skate by the beachside on my own so I could discover the place in a way that's very "Sam". It was one of the most richening experiences to skate there because it was very cheesy and cute to skate on the beachside with the sunset with my music and the sweet soft breeze of the sea. I hope I can travel more in the future and one day make it something that is part of my kid's life.
