There is no doubt about one thing: our planet Earth offers thousand and thousand of great travel opportunities and for sure, you can spend a whole life with seeing them all. Unfortunately, however, hardly anyone has the time or money to spend their whole life traveling. Destinations must therefore be well chosen - but how to decide with tons of options?
My main travel sources are definitely instagram and YouTube, THE platforms for showing pictures and videos, finding new places and getting inspired. Instagram suggests exciting travel accounts and pictures, depending on personal preferences, which is a great way to gather new inspiration. YouTube offers everyone the opportunity to be up close and personal through moving images.
One of my favourite travel accounts on instagram is Beautiful Destinations, which presents great pictures of spectacular places with accompanying short stories every day. The account was founded by Tom Jauncey, an inspiring photographer and video maker. Together with other photographers he awakes the account with marvellous photos, videos and reports. Beautiful Destinations is not only active on instagram but also on Facebook, YouTube, Snapchat, tiktok, LinkedIn, and with it's own blog. It offers their follower a wide range of opportunities in a multimedia context, to engage with the account. Personally, I am a huge fan of their YouTube videos, because they are able to make me feel like I am actually visiting the place.
Another great account is the Exploring Alternatives account, created by Mat and Danielle from Canada. They simplified their live and sold their big house and instead moved in a camper van with just two suitcases. On YouTube and instagram they are sharing their experiences and trips, always with the attempt to create a small environmental footprint. For me, this is a great inspiration source because they are exploring the world with so little.
Last but not least, I want to present National Geographics as a fantastic possibility to collect new ideas, travel inspiration and knowledge about our planet. The company has managed to create a gigantic multimedia communication around geography. With its travel division, the company regularly inspires me to take new trips and makes me want to travel the world. On its channels on YouTube, instagram, Facebook and via podcast, the channel regularly takes you on exciting adventures.
