Traveling from home - the new way to explore!

Let's tell it like it is: Corona hit us all pretty hard. Whether professionally, in everyday life or personally. Every person in this world experiences limitations caused by the virus. The travel industry has been hit particularly hard: flights have been cancelled, tourists have stayed away, and many people fear for their jobs.

Personally, I also miss travelling a lot. I had planned great trips this year, which I now had to postpone all of them until unknown time. Phew, that can be quite depressing.

But the internet wouldn't be what it is today if there weren't some smart people who solved this problem too. As long as we are tied to our homes, we simply explore the world from home!

This has resulted in some really great ideas and works, which I would like to present to you in the following.

How about a virtual tour of Machu Picchu, for example? A series of 360-degree images on YourVisit's virtual tour explore various areas of the impressive mountain. The tour also includes a voiceover guide with information on the architecture, history and resident alpacas.

Google Street View offers another great possibility to discover the world without leaving home. One tour I would like to recommend to you is the Taj Mahal Tour. Google manages in an impressive way to take the viewer with them and bring a piece of India home. There are many ways to explore, such as the 360-degree picture, which allows you to see every little corner of this wonder of the world.

But not only that! Google Streetview has also made a fantastic film about this, which helps you feel closer to culture.

Traveling with audio

Podcasts are another great way to dream yourself into faraway countries. They take you on an audio journey that brings you to distant cities with a little imagination and ease. BBC Earth has a great podcast and brings a weekly collection of exciting experiences about landscapes, creatures and elements. So close your eyes and open your ears to fantastic stories about our world.

Another great podcast is thoughtful travel, a podcast for travel lovers. The host, Amanda Kendle, narrows in a charming way travel stories from fellow travel addicts on topics like using foreign languages, meeting the locals, getting lost and what we learn from our travels.

All in all, you will find numerous, incredibly great opportunities to explore the world from home. I can well understand that it is of course not the same and I very much hope that we can return to normality in the future. But as long as this is not possible, I will satisfy my wanderlust in a different way.

Cheers,

Joanna
